Hello Arizona!

I have managed to survive a week in sunny Arizona! It is SO hot in comparison to the snow and cold I was enjoying just before I left. The drive down was rather uneventful, just long and boring- talking to yourself is only entertaining for so long, and even though I love the sun and the warm I was not prepared for the uber hot summer going on here. Almost a 70 degree difference from dear northern Utah. 70! I hide inside a lot and have to go running super early in the morning when temperatures are still in the 80's so I don't die (there is still a bit of dying that occurs). Air conditioning has become my best friend. The less time spent out in the sun, the better during the middle of the day.
John and Lisa were kind and let me go boating with them and their friends,it was so fun!! I thought going boating at 5 on a Saturday morning was a bit bizarre, but turns out it was perfect. The water was smooth and it wasn't too hot yet. I attempted to wakeboard, but all I succeeded in was drinking a LOT of nasty lake water. I will try again another day.Lisa and I rode on the tube together and I don't think we lasted a full minute on any of the rides. We had a lot of good crashes and I discovered that I need to buy some new swim bottoms so maybe just maybe they won't fall off when I wreck haha. We also got to see some big horned sheep. Those little guys can hop all over the rocks and such without any effort. It was really cool to see them. Unfortunately even with sunscreen I can out a bit sunburned, :'( so sad, but its bound to happen once.
Today was the first day of training for my new job. I love the team I am with. They are so fun and when the discovered that I am really new to the area, they were really helpful in giving suggestions and making me feel welcome. The training was really overwhelming. So much information to try and take in. I am learning ALL of the nitty gritty details behind federal aid-everything from considering the options, applying, accepting aid, to repayment. And believe me, there are a TON of little details to try and keep straight. Hopefully tomorrow will go better and maybe not be quite so overwhelming!

  1. OUCH! perhaps you should get a full body suit... protect the top from sunburn and the bottom from falling off :)
