This is outside JFK when we were trying to find the AirTrain to get us to the right terminal

In the elevator to the AirTrain
Barb trying to find the wireless internet in JFK, please note there is NOT free wireless in JFK but we did find a pole with a plug to charge everything before crossing the ocean.
These are the birds that sat outside our gate. We watched them for a long time while we were waiting.
This isn't a very good picture, but these are the a few of the people on our flight. The majority were part of some tour group for the elderly. Aside from 2 screaming children on board, we were almost the youngest people.
What we could see of the NYC skyline through the fog and rain.
 Welcome to HELSINKI!

The random cement bears by the arrival sign outside the Helsinki airport.
This is some random wood sculpture that is by the security.

Ok. I'm all checked in and now we have to wait for them to post which gate we will be at. Side note, security outside of the US is a ton faster and easier to go through! So we get on the gigantic plane that is taking us across the atlantic/Canada/Iceland/Norway/Sweden and it really is huge. We get settled and finally get to take off 2 1/2 hours after we were supposed to. Once we were up in the air they served us dinner, which was quite good for being airplane food and they did not serve any honey roasted peanuts! Thank heavens!! The flight took FOREVER. 8+ hours on a plane is a lot. We were able to sleep some but because it is summer solstice, Finland doesn't really have a night so there was only a little bit of time that it was actually dark. Each of our seats had touch screen TV's that had a wide variety of movies, TV shows, radio stations, video games, etc on them which helped pass the time. Finally this morning we landed in Helsinki and now we are just waiting for our last flight to Barcelona. YAY! I am so ready to just be done traveling and get to where we need to be and really rest for a while. I am so tired and all I want to do at the airport is sit and relax, which is silly because that's all we have been doing for hours on end. Anyhow, that is a quick overview of what's going on. I fit in well with the Finnish people. They keep talking to me in Finnish because apparently I look like a native until I speak and they realize I have no idea what they are saying. Good thing they are really kind! More to come when I get my checked bag back and have an adapter to charge my computer! :)
